Lime Application

Many lawn soils are acidic. As primary soil elements are leached from the soil, they are replaced by hydrogen ions, which increases the acidity.

The GenEx soil pH test measures hydrogen ions and thereby determines the acidity of your soil. A pH above 7 is alkaline or "chalky" and a pH below 7 is acidic.

Lime applications restore the soil condition and increase the availability of essential nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium and calcium. Lime is also beneficial to the natural micro-organisms in your soil and enhance their activity, thereby reducing thatch buildup and improving overall soil conditions.
